Team USA has won the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 11 times, making the United States the most successful country in the history of the tournament.

The Americans claimed their first title in 1953 and have added championships in 1957, 1979, 1986, 1990, 1998, 2002, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022.

That record puts the United States comfortably ahead of every other country to have won the competition.

How dominant has Team USA been at the World Cup?

The modern run has been particularly impressive.

Team USA has won the last four Women's Basketball World Cups , taking the title in 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022.

The 2022 championship in Sydney was the United States' 11th overall.

That victory also extended a remarkable unbeaten streak in the competition, with the Americans becoming increasingly difficult to challenge during the knockout stages.

Their dominance has been built around a deep pool of WNBA talent, strong defensive play and the ability to rotate elite players without a major drop in quality.

Who else has won the Women's Basketball World Cup?

The Soviet Union remains the next most successful team historically with six titles.

Brazil, Australia and several other nations have also won the tournament, but none has matched the United States' total.

The World Cup has been held since 1953 and is one of the biggest international competitions in women's basketball.

Team USA has therefore won more than a quarter of all editions played.

The United States enters each tournament as one of the clear favorites, and its recent record explains why.

With 11 world championships and four consecutive titles heading into the 2026 edition, Team USA remains the benchmark for the rest of international women's basketball.

If the Americans win again in 2026, they would extend their record to 12 titles and make it five consecutive World Cup championships.
