Jalen Duren swallows 200 million and his aversion to the scale: the All-Star center stays with the Pistons
Jalen Duren, who was eligible for a maximum of 287 million over five years, accepts the 200 million over 5 years that the Pistons offered him and that he turned down two weeks ago

J alen Duren agreed to a fully guaranteed five-year, $200 million contract to return to the Detroit Pistons , according to his agent Chafie Fields , who told ESPN 's Shams Charania .
The 22-year-old player, who did not report to preseason training or the Pistons' Media Day , thus put an end to a salary dispute that had dragged on for four months and in which he was in line for a five-year, $287 million maximum multiyear contract.
Duren, who was a restricted free agent and was an All-Star in 2026, had turned down the team's offer of 5 years and 200 million two weeks earlier .
Had he not accepted the proposal, he would have had to settle for a qualifying offer of 1 year and 9.6 million, which would have made him an unrestricted free agent next summer.
Jalen Duren felt underestimated by the Pistons
Sources informed Charania earlier this week that his representatives made it clear that the player felt slighted by the process, especially compared with the team's handling of forward Ausar Thompson's contract extension, who agreed earlier this month to a five-year, $155 million contract under the rookie scale.
Duren, who last season averaged 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds while shooting 65% , also expressed his disagreement with the weight-related clauses included in some of the team's previous offers.
