When it comes to having an exciting offseason, Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors fans had very opposite experiences this summer. While the Warriors are practically running it back with the same roster around Stephen Curry , the Heat welcomed Giannis Antetokounmpo and Klay Thompson to South Florida.

The vibes are certainly different in respective locker rooms, although it's yet to be seen if Miami's additions actually lead to more wins. As of right now, both Giannis and Thompson appear very happy with their new surroundings . Thompson, in particular, appears eager to make history - and may have challenged Curry , his former teammate.

Klay Thompson wants to break Duncan Robinson's Miami Heat three-point record

A new video surfaced this week of Thompson getting acclimated to his Miami environment. While in the Heat locker room, Thompson revealed his goal for the upcoming season: Breaking the Heat's single-season three-point record .

To answer Thompson's question, the record was set by Duncan Robinson during the 2019-20 season, when he sunk 270 three-pointers . Thompson has surpassed that number on two previous occasions, both with the Warriors: 301 three-pointers in 2022-23 and 276 three-pointers in 2015-16 .

Curry, as the literal all-time leader in three-pointers made, has surpassed that 270 number on 10 occasions . He had done that in five straight seasons before an injury-shortened 2025-26 campaign. Perhaps Thompson's goal can prove to be a motivating factor for Curry in a friendly competition of sorts.
