LeBron James almost lost $100,000 when MrBeast cornered him: “I’m no Steph Curry”
The Philadelphia 76ers ace made the joke trying to win for the LeBron James Family Foundation

LeBron James needed every last second to beat Jimmy Donaldson , better known as MrBeast , in a charity three-point contest that came down to one basket as the veteran Philadelphia 76ers player won 6-5, earning a $100,000 donation for his charity foundation.
The showdown featured in MrBeast 's video Beat LeBron, Win $100,000 , released Saturday and filmed in Akron , Ohio , during James ' offseason before he joined the 76ers in free agency. The challenge put him under pressure in front of young cancer survivors.
And James was quick to acknowledge that he does not possess the shooting reputation of Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry but still gave it his best go in order to raise cash for the LeBron James Family Foundation .
“I’m no Steph Curry, but I can make a couple of shots,” LeBron joked before stepping in for the one-minute competition whilst MrBeast missed his practice attempt, giving the professional basketballer confidence to take him on.
The children watching were also firmly behind the four-time NBA champion, with some of Donaldson 's own friends suggesting the YouTuber had little chance of winning and the contest proved much closer than expected.
James started well, but MrBeast recovered from a slow opening to draw level midway through the minute as both competitors continued shooting as the clock wound down, with the professional athlete eventually claiming a narrow 6-5 victory to secure $100,000 for foundation and provided one of the standout moments in a wider charity initiative.
The shootout was filmed as part of MrBeast 's July video, I Helped 100 Kids Fight Cancer , which brought together celebrities, athletes and organizations to create experiences for young patients and the event also included a film premiere with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson , a meeting with K-pop group Stray Kids and a day with the Pittsburgh Steelers .
76ers rally past Charlotte Hornets without LeBron James
Away from charitable causes, James was not on the court for Philadelphia 's latest victory, as the 76ers overcame the Charlotte Hornets 109-104 on Saturday night as Tyrese Maxey led the way with 38 points, while Anfernee Simons contributed 19 off the bench.
The 76ers also rested Joel Embiid , one night after beating the New York Knicks 98-93 in an NBA Cup matchup whilst Jaylen Brown started and scored 16 points, while Charlotte received 27 points from Grayson Allen and 24 from Brandon Miller .
The Hornets appeared to take control when Miller blocked V.J. Edgecombe 's layup and found Moussa Diabate for a dunk, putting Charlotte ahead 97-90 with five minutes remaining.
Philadelphia responded through Simons before Maxey put the visitors in front for good with two free throws with 1:22 left and Edgecombe added a three-pointer to extend the advantage, and Charlotte could not recover.
Maxey made two more free throws after Sion James missed an uncontested layup, while Brown sealed the result from the line with 5.2 seconds remaining and the victory came despite Philadelphia 's stars sitting out.
The 76ers demonstrated their depth in quality as the team 40 percent from three-point range and overcame Charlotte 's 15-of-23 performance at the free-throw line to claim a sixth win of the season and to maintain their lead atop the Eastern Conference .
