LeBron James looks toward life after basketball with a major PGA Tour partnership in Ohio
LeBron's passion for golf has grown so much that he launched his own YouTube channel devoted to the sport

It is hardly difficult to imagine that once his current two-year contract with Philadelphia concludes, LeBron James will officially step away from the hardwood, hanging up his sneakers after an astonishing 25 seasons in the NBA.
We will undoubtedly never witness anything quite like it again; maintaining a top-tier superstar level for a quarter of a century almost sounds superhuman.
The primary motivation driving LeBron’s calculated move to Philadelphia was the pursuit of a fifth championship ring , prompting him to sign with a powerhouse contender for a bargain rate of under $8 million total over two years since financial gain is no longer a driving factor.
Now at 41 years old , LeBron's summer routines look vastly different than they did a decade ago. Outside of his family, he has poured immense passion into golf , a new hobby that inspired him to launch a dedicated YouTube channel earlier this month, where his debut video featured an emotional reunion of the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers squad that famously shattered the city's 52-year championship drought across major professional sports.
LeBron James Partners With PGA Tour to Launch Akron Golf Event in 2027
LeBron's burgeoning passion for the links has officially evolved into a major philanthropic venture, as he and the PGA Tour announced a partnership to bring professional golf back to his hometown of Akron , Ohio, beginning in 2027 .
The inaugural LeBron James Family Foundation Invitational is scheduled for July 6–7 at the legendary South Course at Firestone Country Club , featuring a unique blend of amateurs and rising professionals from the tour's Pathway to Progression Pro-Bound Five program .
This initiative creates direct pathways for the top five performers in the final Advocates Professional Golf Association (APGA) Collegiate Ranking each season to secure membership on the APGA Tour , aligning seamlessly with the mission of James's I Promise program , which empowers students and families throughout Akron with vital educational resources and mentorship.
Beyond competitive play, the two-day event will incorporate off-course mentorship workshops connecting I Promise students directly with professional golfers who climbed through the Pro-Bound Five pipeline.
Reflecting on the monumental collaboration, James stated, "This partnership with the PGA Tour gives my foundation a chance to introduce my I Promise students and more people to the game at a young age, support talented athletes chasing their dreams, and continue investing in the city of Akron that means everything to me."
Without a doubt, King James is meticulously building his post-basketball empire, a reality that will undoubtedly feel surreal once his playing days officially conclude, but for now, the future Hall of Famer still has two final seasons left to chase history on the court.
