In February 2025, during his final days with the Dallas Mavericks before his shocking trade to the Los Angeles Lakers , Luka Doncic was criticized for his weight and conditioning. The Slovenian turned those comments into motivation and arrived in Los Angeles with a completely renewed physique, surprising fans and analysts alike.

Months later, the six-time NBA All-Star is once again generating headlines because of his physical transformation. During the offseason, Doncic appears to have taken another step forward and looks noticeably slimmer, a change that many on social media are viewing as a new version of the Lakers superstar.
Content creator Niko shared an image of the player and highlighted that Doncic currently appears to be one of the slimmest players on the Lakers roster.
“Luka looks like he is back to his early Mavs weight, looks good,” he wrote.
The image and video were captured during the Lakers minicamp in Slovenia, an experience organized by Doncic, who hosted his teammates in his home country during a four-day trip.
During the visit, the Slovenian star took the opportunity to build team chemistry: he brought the group kayaking, visited the basketball court where his journey began and even participated in a bicycle race through the streets of Ljubljana .
Doncic had previously explained the changes he made to improve his physique. The star revealed that he lost around 38 pounds (17 kilograms) after changing his diet, cutting out sugar, reducing gluten intake and increasing his protein consumption.
“Obviously, be the best that I can be, take care of myself,” he said at the time. “This year, with my team, I think we did a huge step. But this is just the start, you know. I need to keep going. Can’t stop.”
With the 2026-27 NBA season just around the corner, Lakers fans are hoping this new version of Luka Doncic translates into more explosiveness, improved endurance and, above all, a stronger push toward the championship they desperately want.
