Will the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Royal” Be worth buying?
The iconic colorway returns in October with leather, details inspired by 1985 and a construction that brings back part of its original essence.

October brings one of the sneaker releases that fans have been looking forward to the most: the 2026 Air Jordan 1 High OG “Royal.” The model returns with the classic black and Game Royal combination, but this time there is one detail that could make all the difference for those who have been waiting years for a version closer to the original: leather is back in the spotlight.
What changes in the 2026 Air Jordan 1 “Royal”?
The 2026 edition uses smooth leather in black and Game Royal, moving away from the all-suede construction of the 2023 Royal Reimagine d.
It also brings back the High OG silhouette, with a high cut, a straighter ankle shape and a slightly more streamlined toe box. The design keeps the “Nike Air” woven label on the tongue, the Wings logo on the ankle and the blue rubber outsole with its classic circular traction pattern.
The nod to the original Royals also appears in the presentation. The special box is inspired by Nike’s famous 1985 photograph known as “Flight Guy,” which shows Michael Jordan wearing the colorway, and includes interior paper designed as a tribute to the image.
Are they for playing basketball or everyday wear?
The Air Jordan 1 was born as a basketball sneaker, and some of its elements still reflect that origin. However, the model now also holds an important place in streetwear and everyday sneaker culture.
That is why the 2026 “Royal” is aimed at those looking for a pair that can complement casual outfits while still preserving the aesthetic of a basketball classic . Its combination of blue, black and white also keeps a distinctive look that is easy to recognize even off the court.
