Angel Reese is rewriting WNBA history alongside Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers
Angel Reese continues her historic WNBA rise, joining Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers as part of a new generation transforming women’s basketball.

Angel Reese ’s historic 2026 WNBA season reached another unprecedented level on Saturday.
The Atlanta Dream forward became the first player in league history to record 500 rebounds in a single season , adding another milestone to a year filled with record-setting performances.
Reese entered the matchup against the Chicago Sky needing just five rebounds to reach the mark after collecting 495 boards during the season. She wasted little time chasing history and secured the record in the second quarter.
With 1:50 remaining in the period, Reese forced a deflection on a play before grabbing the defensive rebound, officially giving her 500 total rebounds and cementing her place in the WNBA record books .
Breaking records has become routine for Reese during her dominant 2026 campaign.
On Aug. 30 , she recorded her 29th double-double of the season in Atlanta’s 89-81 victory over the Minnesota Lynx , finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds . That performance allowed her to surpass Alyssa Thomas’ previous WNBA single-season record of 28 double-doubles, set in 2023 .
Just days earlier, Reese also set another historic mark. During the Dream’s 78-71 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Aug. 24 , she grabbed a WNBA single-game record 26 rebounds, including 18 defensive rebounds and eight offensive boards. That same night, she broke the league’s single-season rebounding record with 458 rebounds , surpassing A’ja Wilson ’s previous mark of 451 set in 2024 .
Reese’s list of accomplishments in 2026 continues to grow. She reached 900 career rebounds in just 71 games on May 2 9, becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to reach that milestone. She also scored the 1,000th point of her career in Atlanta’s win over Connecticut on June 2.
“Anything that goes up is mine,” Reese said after her record-breaking rebounding performance. “I want to be one of the best when I walk away from the game. So just being able to be consistent every night is something I’m looking forward to doing.”
Fresh off winning gold with Team USA at the FIBA World Cup , Reese is enjoying the best season of her young career. She also became the second WNBA player ever to receive her own Barbie doll , following a collaboration with Mattel and Reebok .
The former LSU standout, selected No. 7 overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA Draft , is averaging a double-double for the third consecutive season. Through 41 games, she is posting career highs of 16.5 points, 12.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
Reese currently leads the WNBA in total rebounds, offensive rebounds (5.1 per game) and double-doubles, while ranking among the league leaders in steals.
“Angel is smashing double-double records. All the rebound records, single-game rebound records. She’s having the best season of her career,” Dream head coach Karl Smesko said. “From an All-WNBA perspective, she should be on that defensive team and in the Defensive Player of the Year conversation.”
