Angel Reese reveals the most important figure during her run to WNBA Finals with Atlanta Dream
Reese has had a "dream" debut season in Atlanta and is yet to lose a playoff game.
Right now, Angel Reese is on top of the world. After two disappointing seasons without a playoff appearance with the Chicago Sky , Reese has reached the WNBA Finals in her debut season with the Atlanta Dream .
Reese isn’t just a passenger on the Dream train either; she’s been an absolutely crucial part of the team. The Defensive Player of the Year has had an outstanding postseason so far, and the Dream are yet to lose a playoff game.
Many things have contributed to Reese’s incredible first season with the Dream. She has a chip on her shoulder from the Sky trading her away . Her Dream teammates have embraced her, and the team has a lot of chemistry on the court together. But there’s one person who has played a crucial role, off the court .
Angel Reese showers mom with love after reaching WNBA Finals.
After clinching a berth in the WNBA Finals, Reese spoke about how her mother has helped her get to where she is today.
Being a single mom, raising me and my brother, kind of by herself. For me to repay her, by her living through me, and being able to just support me and show up. That’s all I ask for: Support me, show up, and love me, and I’ll give you the world. That’s just her, that’s just who she is. She’s not very hard on me, but she’s very loving, she’s very caring. She’s really proud because she knows the dark moments that I’ve been through… I’m just so thankful to have a mom like that that’s just constantly just being there for me. And I don’t take it for granted.
Reese was named after her mother, Angel Webb Reese . Like Angel, her mother also played basketball: for UMBC in college and overseas professionally in Luxembourg . She split from Michael Reese not long into Angel’s childhood, and played a vital motherly role.
