Angel Reese's boyfriend reveals what it was really like being by her side on WNBA Finals path

A ngel Reese and Wendell Carter Jr. have established themselves as one of the most followed couples in American sports. While the Atlanta Dream star is chasing a WNBA Finals championship, the Orlando Magic center is putting the finishing touches on his preparation for the start of a new NBA season.

With Orlando set to make its season debut on October 21 against the Atlanta Hawks , it remains unclear whether Carter will be able to join Reese during the championship series.

In an interview with Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson , the Magic big man explained that much of his summer was split between preparing physically for the new season and constantly supporting his girlfriend.

“It’s been a great summer. A lot of hard work, a lot of relaxation, and a lot of support for my girl,” Carter said.

“It’s been good, man,” Carter said of the offseason.

The former Duke standout also revealed that the two maintain constant communication to help each other improve on the court.

“We’re both competitors,” Carter said.

Before Carter, Reese was linked to Jalen Duren

Before beginning her relationship with Wendell Carter Jr. , Angel Reese was romantically linked to Detroit Pistons cente r Jalen Duren in 2024 .

Rumors about her relationship with Carter began circulating in 2025 , and although the couple has never officially announced their romance, they have publicly shown the support they provide each other in their respective careers.

On the court, Reese is looking to win the first WNBA championship of her career. Her move from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream has represented a major boost for her development as a player.

“You have to rise in the playoffs,” Reese said ahead of the Finals.

“The great players are built for these moments. If you want to be considered one of the best and earn everyone’s respect, you can’t shy away when the biggest moments arrive.”
