It is clear that competition means a lot to Caitlin Clark. The game against the Las Vegas Aces was an important one for the Indiana Fever, but they did not get the result they were looking for. Still, that competitive edge should not turn into tension between teammates , especially when things seemed to be going well for one of them.

Despite the result, Fever fans had already made their frustration with Stephanie White known throughout the season, calling for Raven Johnson to receive more opportunities . The rookie quickly showed what she could bring when given the chance , making an immediate impact in her WNBA playoff debut.

Johnson brought the energy Indiana needed

With the Aces already holding a considerable lead, Johnson’s celebration was likely fueled by the fact that she was making the most of her first appearance . But the feeling around the Fever appeared to be different. The conclusion fans reached was that, for Clark, there was no time to celebrate and the focus had to remain on cutting into Las Vegas’ lead.

The video shows Lexie Hull, Sophie Cunningham and Johnson celebrating together before Clark approached the rookie and appeared to shove her . Clark’s body language looked uncomfortable and frustrated , turning what seemed like a normal moment between teammates into something unexpected. J ohnson clearly felt the shove and nearly stumbled, leaving fans describing Clark’s reaction as erratic.

The rookie looked anything but overwhelmed

Johnson did not look like a rookie making her WNBA playoff debut . She scored 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting and added two steals in 22 minutes during Indiana’s 102-85 loss to A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces. She was also one of the few Fever players consistently bringing energy to a game that got away from Indiana early.

It became clear that Clark did not see the moment as one for celebration. Johnson’s performance quickly became a major talking point among Fever fans on social media , especially after she stepped into a bigger role following backup point guard Tyasha Harris’ season-ending broken left fibula in the regular-season finale. Harris had averaged 4.1 points and 2.0 assists in 39 games for Indiana this season.
