A regular-season WNBA game featuring Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever drew a larger audience than the record-setting Game 4 of the 2026 Finals . Indiana’s Aug. 23 matchup with the Chicago Sky averaged 3.31 million viewers across NBC and Peacock . Game 4 between Angel Reese’s Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries averaged 1.895 million, a difference of about 1.4 million.

The comparison is especially striking because both figures use NBC and Peacock’s combined Total Audience Delivery measurement. But the games had different stakes and time slots: Fever-Sky aired in prime time, while Finals Game 4 tipped off at 1 p.m. ET. The Finals broadcast still set a record for the most-watched Game 4 in WNBA Finals history.

Clark’s game topped the record-setting Finals audience

The Fever-Sky matchup was the most-watched regular-season WNBA game since the league’s opening weekend in 1997 and the third-most-watched WNBA game ever. Clark scored 37 points in Indiana’s 113-90 win. Reese was not in that game: she had joined Atlanta after being traded by Chicago earlier in the year, so the Fever were facing her former team.

Clark and Reese did meet on the court earlier that month. On Aug. 16, the Fever beat the Dream 95-91 in overtime, and that game averaged 2.58 million viewers on ESPN, setting a cable record for a WNBA game. Clark finished with 26 points and nine assists; Reese had 15 points and 14 rebounds.

The 1.895 million audience for Finals Game 4 remains a milestone for that round of the championship series , and it peaked at 2.5 million during the finish. The comparison with Fever-Sky shows how a regular-season game involving Clark and her former rival’s old team could draw an even larger audience, even against a Finals matchup featuring Reese.

Since the viewership record was set, the series has moved on: Golden State beat Atlanta 64-55 in Game 5 and now leads the best-of-seven Finals 3-2. Game 6 is Thursday, Oct. 29, at 12:30 p.m. ET (9:30 a.m. PT) in Atlanta, where the Dream will try to keep their season alive. In the United States, the game will air on USA Network and stream on Peacock.
