Naëlle Bernard takes on male players in a new streetball video, showing off her game in Caitlin Clark’s unreleased Purple Venom sneakers. The colorway adds a striking look to the matchup, but Bernard’s moves come from years of playing basketball.

Bernard played college basketball in the United States, including at Duquesne and Loyola Chicago. In her only season with Loyola in 2024–25, she averaged 9.7 points per game, led the team with 58 made three-pointers and scored a career-high 25 points against Duquesne. She later signed her first professional contract with France’s AS Aulnoye Basket and has since focused on creating streetball content.

What to know about Caitlin Clark’s Purple Venom Nike Caitlin 1

The Purple Venom is a colorway of Clark’s first signature shoe, the Nike Caitlin 1 . The shoe model launched in October, but this purple version is expected to go on sale Dec. 12 for $140, according to sneaker-release reports. Its listed color name is Purple Venom/Laser Crimson , and its style code is IH7423-500 .

The Caitlin 1 has a low-cut design and Nike’s Opticast upper, whose molded details include patterns inspired by Clark’s initials and jersey number, 22. It also features stacked Swooshes, a forefoot Air Zoom Turbo unit and Cushlon foam for cushioning.

The purple colorway pairs a textured lavender-purple upper with contrasting red, white and blue details . Reports connect its color concept to Clark’s Iowa roots and the Hawkeye mascot, though Nike’s launch materials don’t confirm that specific inspiration.

Clark has already worn a purple pair on court, and Bernard is wearing one in the video. The footage confirms she has an early pair, but it does not show how she got it or whether Nike sent it to her. The colorway is not yet available for public purchase.

Bernard has said she left professional basketball because she wanted more freedom and creativity. Now, she brings her experience to the playground, where her streetball videos show her competing against men and promoting a more inclusive game.

The shoes may be the first thing viewers notice, but Bernard’s basketball background is what makes the matchup stand out.
