WNBA superstar Paige Bueckers experienced a moment of intense tension when a police officer aimed a Taser at her face during the chaotic arrest of her Dallas Wings teammate Arike Ogunbowale earlier this year, according to newly released bodycam footage obtained by the California Post .

The incident unfolded around 4:20 a.m. on March 5 outside the popular Miami nightclub E11EVEN . Bueckers, Ogunbowale , and several other WNBA players were inside celebrating Ogunbowale’s Unrivaled championship when the group was suddenly escorted toward the exit.

According to the police report, after an altercation inside the club, Ogunbowale and her companions were being led out a back exit when she allegedly punched a security guard in the face with a closed fist. Once the alleged victim identified her as the aggressor, an officer attempted to detain her as she left the venue.

Bodycam video shows that when the officer tried to grab Ogunbowale’s wrists, Bueckers and others intervened, asking him to let her go. Among those surrounding Ogunbowale were Unrivaled host Maria Clifton, Las Vegas Aces guard Jackie Young, and Chicago Sky forward DiJonai Carrington, among other players. As the crowd grew, the officer drew his Taser and ordered everyone to step back.

Despite the warning, Bueckers put her arm around Ogunbowale and repeatedly told the officer, “We got her. We’ll take care of her.” The officer then pointed the Taser at Bueckers’ face and ordered her to release her teammate.

After several tense moments, the group eventually allowed officers to arrest Ogunbowale. Clifton can be heard shouting, “Stop it! Don’t put the handcuffs on her! Are you kidding me? She’s a champion!”

Ogunbowale was placed in a police car. Authorities later reviewed the club’s security cameras, which, according to the report, supported the alleged victim’s account. The Dallas Wings guard was booked on a misdemeanor battery charge.

Court records show the case was dismissed in May.

“We are pleased that the State Attorney’s Office has exercised its discretion and elected not to move forward with this matter,” her attorney, Mitch Schuster, said in a statement to ESPN at the time. “Ms. Ogunbowale is a person of outstanding character, and we are excited that these charges have been dismissed so she can resume her focus on her professional career.”

Ogunbowale has been with the Dallas Wings since being selected in the first round of the 2019 WNBA Draft . She has shared a locker room with Bueckers since 2025 , when the former UConn star arrived as the No. 1 overall pick.
