Early buyers of Caitlin Clark's Nike Caitlin 1s give them the thumbs up but have one small complaint
Caitlin Clark’s first Nike signature shoe is earning praise for comfort, traction and performance

Caitlin Clark’s first Nike signature sneaker has made a strong opening statement, disappearing from Nike.com and several major retailers within roughly two hours of its October 1 U.S. launch.
The $140 Caitlin 1 arrived in Caitlin Blue and Warning Code colorways, and the rapid sellout gave Nike a welcome boost during a difficult stretch for the company. Nike is dealing with falling sales and its recent removal from the S&P 100, making a successful launch particularly encouraging.
The early reaction from customers suggests the excitement isn’t just due to Clark’s popularity. Nike’s review page shows the Caitlin 1 at 4.6 out of five stars, with shoppers highlighting comfort, cushioning, grip and support.
Reviewers have praised the shoe for feeling responsive during basketball while remaining comfortable enough for everyday wear.
The design is built around performance, too. Nike uses a lightweight Opticast upper, Cushlon foam and an Air Zoom Turbo unit, while Clark -specific touches include her No. 22, CC branding and messages celebrating her shooting range.
The combination of performance technology and Clark’s recognizable style appears to have helped the Caitlin 1 appeal to both basketball players and fans looking for an everyday sneaker.
Clark’s recent return to Iowa City added another layer to the launch. During ESPN’s College GameDay weekend, she celebrated her signature shoe with Hawkeye fans, while Nike hosted a temporary court and merchandise experience near campus.
The University of Iowa reported that fans lined up for hours to get the shoes, underscoring the level of interest surrounding Clark and her first signature release.
One small fit issue keeps coming up
There’s one criticism, however: the Caitlin 1 can feel snug. Some buyers say the shoe runs small, with the tighter fit particularly noticeable for people who have wider feet.
Others report that their usual size fits perfectly, so the issue doesn’t appear to affect everyone. Still, shoppers who are between sizes or prefer extra room may want to consider sizing up before purchasing.
That complaint hasn’t stopped the response from being strongly positive. Some early reviewers have singled out the court traction and stability, while others have focused on how comfortable the sneakers feel away from the hardwood.
One reviewer even described them as among the most comfortable basketball shoes they’d worn.
As for shoppers who missed the initial drop, another opportunity is coming. Nike lists the Hot Punch/Neo Pink “Midnight Fever” Caitlin 1 for an October 14 release.
With the first launch moving so quickly, buyers may want to have their size ready before the next colorway goes live.
The upcoming release also gives Nike another chance to build on the momentum created by the debut. Clark is expected to remain closely involved with promoting the line, with additional colorways planned for the months ahead.
If the positive reviews continue and sizing proves to be the only recurring complaint, the Caitlin 1 could have a strong foundation as Clark’s signature collection expands.
