Enes Kanter urges WNBA to suspend A'ja Wilson after heated playoff exchange with Fever fan
WNBA playoff tensions rise after Wilson’s confrontation with a Fever fan

Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom has called on the WNBA to suspend Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson following her heated confrontation with an Indiana Fever fan during Game 2 of the teams’ playoff series.
Kanter took to X on Wednesday, arguing that Wilson should face disciplinary action after leaving the playing area and approaching a spectator near the baseline.
“What a drama queen! A’ja Wilson should be suspended immediately, along with every teammate who followed her into the stands. She left the court, walked into the baseline seats, and confronted a fan,” Kanter wrote on X.
“@WNBA Rule 12A is clear: if a player deliberately enters the stands during a game, they are automatically ejected. The Fever investigated the fan and determined he did NOT violate their Fan Code of Conduct. Hey Aja, You’re the face of the league.
“@WNBA. Control your emotions or face the consequences. Rules are rules. Apply them. #WNBA“
The controversy unfolded during the fourth quarter of Indiana’s 99-89 victory over Las Vegas. Wilson had become tangled with Fever forward Sophie Cunningham , who went down following the play.
As Wilson moved toward the baseline, a fan behind the basket appeared to point in her direction and move toward the court.
Wilson then approached the spectator, pointing and shouting before teammates, coaches and security personnel separated the two. She was assessed a technical foul, while the fan was temporarily removed from his seat.
Wilson explains why she confronted the fan
After the game, Wilson said she believed the fan had stepped toward her while pointing and that his behavior was unacceptable. She acknowledged that the technical foul hurt her team and apologized to her teammates, but stood by her reaction.
“If I see a man come at me, taking steps toward me and pointing at me, I don’t give a damn what you said. I don’t give a damn how you said it, the tone, that is unacceptable,” Wilson said after the game.
“You don’t know me to step toward me and point at me. I’m not for that s**t at all. … That there is unacceptable. How he gets back in the game because they said he didn’t do anything, of course he did.”
The Fever investigated the incident and determined that the spectator hadn't violated the team's Fan Code of Conduct. He was subsequently allowed to return, a decision that Wilson questioned publicly.
Aces coach Becky Hammon defended Wilson , saying she hadn't witnessed the entire exchange but believed her star player had felt deeply disrespected. Hammon also stressed that both players and fans have responsibilities when it comes to conduct inside an arena.
The incident has now created another storyline in an already intense playoff matchup. Sophie Cunningham also appeared to take a jab at Wilson on social media after the confrontation, adding another layer to the growing tension.
Indiana's victory evened the best-of-three series at 1-1 and forced a decisive Game 3 in Las Vegas. Wilson finished Game 2 with 22 points and nine rebounds after producing 38 points and 16 rebounds in the series opener.
Kanter's demand for a suspension has added further attention to the situation, but it appears it’s all for nothing as Wilson is expected to play in Thursday night’s crucial Game 3.
