The WNBA is on a break until September 17 due to the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Germany, and when it comes back all teams will play their four remaining games to see how the standings will finish as the eight teams that will be on the playoffs have already qualified.

As it looks it seems the Minnesota Lynx will finish as the top team in the standings a place they have been all season even with their star player Napheesa Collier out for more than half of the season.

But even with Collier out the team has looked amazing especially rookie Olivia Miles who is averaging 19.7 PPG and 6.0 APG , both leading her squad and ranking inside the top eight across the entire WNBA.

Olivia Miles Sweeps Rookie of the Month Honors

Miles was awarded the rookie of the month for August going a perfect 4-for-4 in monthly honors this season. Miles is now tied with seven players who also have 4 WNBA Rookie of the Month awards , a historic list that includes Caitlin Clark (2024), Rhyne Howard (2022), Michaela Onyenwere (2021), Breanna Stewart (2016), Elena Delle Donne (2013), Nneka Ogwumike (2012) and Tina Charles (2010).

Of course, all of these players went on to win Rookie of the Year . Miles has essentially locked up that honor since claiming her first award, which was confirmed when Azzi Fudd was sidelined for the rest of the season.

Her debut campaign is historic because she has accumulated a total of 749 points , sitting just 20 points behind Caitlin Clark's all-time rookie record of 769 points , and with four games left to play, it is only a matter of time before she establishes a brand-new rookie scoring standard.

Looking back at draft night, it is safe to say the Dallas Wings are likely second-guessing passing on her with the first overall pick.
