P aige Bueckers' frustration boiled over during the Dallas Wings' matchup against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, and one heated reaction could now cost her.

The Dallas guard was assessed a technical foul after arguing with an official over a call involving Clark, putting Bueckers in line for a potential $500 fine under the WNBA's new rules.

The incident unfolded in the fourth quarter after Indiana forward Makayla Timpson grabbed a defensive rebound and sent the ball to Clark. As the Fever star pushed down the court, she found herself one-on-one against Bueckers.

Bueckers was called for a personal foul as Clark attempted to get past her, but the Wings star immediately disagreed with the decision. She appeared to believe Clark had pushed off and made her frustration clear to the official.

The argument went too far

Bueckers was hit with a technical foul after exchanging words with the referee, a decision that could now come with a financial consequence.

Under the WNBA's new CBA, players are fined $500 for each of their first three technical fouls. Technical fouls four through seven carry a $1,000 fine, while an eighth results in a $1,500 fine and an automatic one-game suspension.

Bueckers had previously been assessed a technical against the Atlanta Dream on May 22, but that call was later rescinded.

That makes the technical against Indiana particularly significant for the Wings guard, who could now have to pay for allowing her frustration to spill over.

Caitlin Clark has been walking an even thinner line

Clark knows better than most how quickly technical fouls can become costly.

The Fever star has been assessed eight technicals during the 2026 season, putting her at the center of the WNBA's disciplinary rules. However, her most recent technical against the Chicago Sky on August 8 was later rescinded, allowing her to avoid an automatic one-game suspension.

Dallas ultimately had the last word on the scoreboard, beating Indiana 91-85 and snapping the Fever's five-game winning streak. Arike Ogunbowale led the Wings with a game-high 32 points , while Bueckers finished with 13 points , eight assists and six rebounds. For Indiana, Aliyah Boston posted 19 points and nine rebounds, while Clark was held to 10 points on 4-of-15 shooting but still contributed nine assists.

For Bueckers, there is no suspension threat yet. But unless the league decides to rescind Thursday's technical as well, the confrontation could leave the Dallas star with a $500 reminder of what happened when her frustration against Clark boiled over.
