Paige Bueckers joins rare company as Dallas Wings surge toward playoffs
The performance was another example of the all-around excellence that has transformed

Paige Bueckers arrived in the WNBA carrying enormous expectations. Less than two full seasons later, she is doing something even more impressive: exceeding them. The Dallas Wings superstar added another chapter to her rapidly growing legacy on Saturday night, leading her team to an 87-82 victory over the Phoenix Mercury while setting a new WNBA scoring milestone that further cemented her place among the league's brightest stars.
Bueckers finished with a game-high 26 points, four rebounds, five assists, three steals, and one block as Dallas secured its sixth consecutive victory. The performance was another example of the all-around excellence that has transformed the former UConn standout from a highly touted prospect into one of the most impactful players in professional basketball.
The win also came on a historic night
During the game, Bueckers became the highest-scoring player through the first two seasons of a WNBA career . The league announced the achievement on social media shortly after the milestone was reached.
“History. Made: Paige Bueckers has scored the most points (1,515) by any player through their first two seasons in WNBA history!”
The record is notable not only because of the names Bueckers passed, but because of what those names represent. She moved ahead of Hall of Famer Seimone Augustus, who scored 1,513 points through her first two seasons, and surpassed WNBA legend Cynthia Cooper, one of the greatest scorers the sport has ever seen.
Bueckers has benefited from the WNBA's expanded 44-game schedule that began during her rookie season in 2025. Augustus established her mark in 68 games, while Cooper accumulated her total in just 58 contests. Even with that caveat, the accomplishment underscores a reality that has become impossible to ignore.
Bueckers is one of the most gifted offensive players in the sport
She reached the milestone in 75 career games and still has two regular-season contests remaining. More importantly, she has paired her scoring ability with elite playmaking, defensive activity, and leadership, turning herself into the centerpiece of a Dallas team that appears to be peaking at exactly the right time. The six-game winning streak is evidence of that growth.
After spending much of the season fighting for playoff positioning, the Wings have surged into the postseason conversation with momentum on their side. Dallas currently sits at 26-16 and occupies sixth place in the standings with road games remaining against Phoenix and Seattle before the playoffs begin. Bueckers has been the driving force behind that rise.
What makes her ascent especially intriguing is the company she is beginning to keep. For much of the past several years, conversations about the league's biggest stars have centered around players such as A'ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Napheesa Collier, and, more recently, Caitlin Clark. Wilson remains one of the most dominant two-way players in basketball, while Clark has become one of the most influential stars the WNBA has ever seen thanks to her scoring, passing, and ability to transform an offense.
The reigning Rookie of the Year has already become a two-time All-Star and a FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup gold medalist . More importantly, she has demonstrated the ability to impact every facet of the game. On Saturday alone, she scored efficiently, facilitated the offense, generated turnovers, and protected the rim. Few guards in the league offer that complete package.
