A' ja Wilson 's confrontation with an Indiana fan became an unexpected flashpoint during Game 2, with Jason Whitlock launching a fierce criticism of the Las Vegas Aces star after the Fever forced a decisive Game 3.

Wilson was involved in a shouting and pointing exchange with a male fan beneath the basket after Sophie Cunningham was called for a foul, with the WNBA MVP appearing to believe the fan had crossed a line.

But the incident took another turn after it emerged what he had actually said as the fan pointed at Wilson , stood up and stepped toward the court while telling her, “That's on you.” He apparently believed she should have been called for an offensive foul.

Security immediately investigated whether he had violated the arena's rules, but the Fever later determined that the spectator had done nothing that warranted his removal.

Although security escorted him from the area initially, he was permitted to return because the team said he had not violated its fan code of conduct and Whitlock was highly critical of Wilson 's response, arguing she should not have confronted a spectator.

“I'm playing catch-up,” Whitlock said via X.com, formerly Twitter. “A'ja Wilson made a complete fool of herself tonight. She actually deserves to be suspended. Another incredible WNBA fumble tonight.

“Just embarrassing. I'm so sick of Indiana Fever fans being demonized. That Amazon broadcast crew needs to apologize, too, Candace Parker and the other two clowns acting like fans can't heckle players. Just embarrassing.”

The incident occurred with Las Vegas trailing by double digits, potentially indicating frustration was boiling over and Whitlock later doubled down, suggesting Wilson could face a suspension because she was the player who left the court to confront the fan.

Fever strike back at Aces and force decisive Game 3

The confrontation created plenty of noise, but Indiana had already delivered the biggest statement of the night on the court as Caitlin Clark produced 27 points and 15 assists to lead the sixth seed to a 99-89 victory over the defending champions.

Clark also made history by becoming the first player in league history to record a points-assists double-double during the first half of a playoff game. She entered halftime with 14 points and 11 assists as Indiana overturned an early deficit.

The Aces opened strongly, taking an 18-29 lead after closing the first quarter on a 9-2 run. Clark then helped ignite a 20-6 second-quarter surge, tying up Wilson for a jump ball before creating plays on both ends of the floor.

Kelsey Mitchell added 26 points for whilst Jackie Young led Las Vegas with 31. Wilson finished with 22 points and nine rebounds, moving past Rebekkah Brunson into fourth place on the career playoff scoring list.

The Fever never surrendered the lead after their second-quarter rally and even after Clark fouled out with 2:45 remaining, Indiana held off a late Aces push. The series is now tied 1-1, with Game 3 scheduled for Thursday, October 1 , in Las Vegas .

The decisive matchup will determine which team advances to face either the Dallas Wings or the Golden State Valkyries .
