Sophie Cunningham finds a way to mock A’ja Wilson and heats up the decisive Fever-Aces
The Indiana Fever player posted an ironic video after Wilson’s confrontation with a fan. She did not mention the Las Vegas star, but the reference to the finger that sparked the controversy was hard to miss.

The controversy between A’ja Wilson and an Indiana Fever fan had not yet died down when Sophie Cunningham decided to add a little more fuel to the fire. The Indiana player posted a video on TikTok with a striking reference to the finger-pointing gesture, precisely the move that had triggered Wilson’s reaction during Game 2 .
Cunningham appears relaxed on a couch, with her morning coffee, before delivering a phrase loaded with irony: “I don’t want to be dramatic, seriously. I was here having my morning coffee and what an incredible comeback year for the ‘point’. Who would have imagined it? Who would have imagined it?”. Cunningham is referring to the index finger (pointing finger) , that is, the gesture of pointing with a finger that was present both in A’ja Wilson’s incident with the fan and in an earlier episode involving Cunningham herself with DeWanna Bonner.
Sophie Cunningham's jab at A’ja Wilson
' Cunningham never said Wilson's name, but the timing of the video 's release made the association inevitable.'
Just a few hours earlier, Wilson had been involved in one of the tensest moments of Game 2. After a play in which Cunningham was precisely called for a foul, a fan sitting behind the basket stood up, took a few steps, and pointed toward the Las Vegas star while apparently saying to her: “That’s on you” as his companion urged him to sit back down.
Wilson removed her mouthguard and walked toward the spectator to confront him verbally. Several teammates, a member of the coaching staff, and security personnel intervened to separate them. The four-time MVP received a technical foul for leaving the playing surface.
The fan was temporarily moved from his location while security reviewed what had happened. However, after speaking with him and with witnesses, officials determined that he had not violated the Indiana Fever fan code of conduct, so he was allowed to return to his seat.
Wilson explained after the game that her reaction was not related solely to the fan's words. The Las Vegas star said she would not accept a spectator moving toward her and pointing at her in that way. She also acknowledged that she owed her teammates an apology for the technical foul she received.
The “point” has history for Sophie Cunningham
Cunningham's joke also has a second reading. The gesture of pointing with the finger had already starred in one of her viral moments this season and also had her as the protagonist.
During a previous confrontation with DeWanna Bonner, Cunningham used the same gesture in the middle of an exchange between the two players. That image circulated widely on social media and helps explain why she now spoke of the unexpected “comeback year for the point”.
This time, the reference comes after Cunningham was involved in the action that preceded the confrontation between Wilson and the fan. Her video also appeared before the third game of a series that Indiana had tied 1-1 .
Indiana won 99-89 in Game 2 and forced a third matchup in Las Vegas. Wilson finished with 22 points and nine rebounds, while the Fever’s victory was led by Caitlin Clark, with 27 points and 15 assists .
The third game will be played in Las Vegas with the series tied. Before that matchup, Cunningham decided to turn the gesture that had defined the previous night into the butt of a joke that many interpreted as a dig at Wilson.
