Mike Tyson has gone from delivering some of the most feared knockouts in boxing to sharing a few moves with a very special training partner . In a video that has gone viral, the former heavyweight champion can be seen practicing shadowboxing with a young boy.
Face to face, the two take turns throwing punches, dodging and moving around, as Tyson follows the youngster's lead. The scene has a special charm, but it also carries a deeper meaning: not every day does someone get the chance to share a few minutes of training with a figure who changed the history of boxing .
Mike Tyson, more than just a heavyweight champion
To understand why the encounter has attracted so much attention, it's worth remembering just how big Tyson became in the sport. On November 22, 1986, at just 20 years old, he defeated Trevor Berbick to become the youngest heavyweight world champion in boxing history , a record he still holds today.
His explosive power, speed and devastating punching ability turned him into one of the most dominant fighters of his generation. He went on to unify the WBC, WBA and IBF titles and finished his professional career with 50 wins, 44 of them by knockout , seven losses and two no-contests.
But his influence extended far beyond his record. Nicknamed Iron Mike, Tyson became an international phenomenon and one of boxing's most recognizable faces, even among people who have never closely followed the sport.
Iron Mike returned to the spotlight with fights against Roy Jones Jr. and Jake Paul
His story inside the ring didn't end with his years of dominance. In November 2020, he made a comeback to face Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout that brought two boxing legends together.
Four years later, he once again captured the public's attention by agreeing to fight Jake Paul. The matchup took place on November 15, 2024, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas , and ended with a unanimous decision victory for the content creator.
