Oscar De La Hoya and Dana White reignite their bitter feud over humiliation plot

White has ruffled plenty of feathers since joining the boxing industry.

It’s common knowledge by this point that Dana White and Oscar De La Hoya don’t see eye-to-eye. In fact, since White began dipping his toes in the boxing industry through his promotion company, Zuffa Boxing , White has already rubbed Matchroom Boxing ’s Eddie Hearn the wrong way, too.

But De La Hoya and White appear to have a special type of hatred for each other . It’s gone far beyond subliminal messages on social media, with the two trading verbal jobs whenever the opportunity arises. Naturally, that had De La Hoya very cautious recently .

De La Hoya’s prized fighter, Ryan Garcia , took on Conor Benn last month at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. But because White’s Zuffa Boxing ran the event, De La Hoya opted against attending - which Garcia wasn’t too fond of. De La Hoya believed he was being set up to be humiliated in some way by White .

Dana White says he would never set up to humiliate Oscar De La Hoya despite feud

The UFC president has come out to wholly refute that claim. Even though they don’t like each other, White says he would never pull something like that , especially because it was done to him in the past.

I would never do that. Listen, my dislike for Oscar De La Hoya is very well known. He knows it, I know it, and it’s mutual. But I am the type of person, I would call and say, ‘Don’t even try and show up to this f*cking fight. You’re not welcome.’ I would never have somebody show up to an event and do that. It happened to me. Vince McMahon did it to me for Ronda’s first wrestling match. I showed up at will call — I flew to f*cking New Orleans, showed up at will call, and they said, ‘Oh, we have no tickets for you.’ I said, ‘Ah shit.’ I started making some phone calls; they end up getting me tickets, I’m in the f*cking bleachers. I’ve been through all that. I wouldn’t do that to even an enemy; I wouldn’t do that. Oscar knew he had tickets. Oscar knew where he was sitting. Oscar was coming in the back, like all the celebrities do, to the celebrity VIP area, and he knew all of that. I’m not saying that in his mind he didn’t think, ‘Maybe these guys are gonna do that,’ but let’s just be straight up and open about this: I would never do that to anybody.

Whether De La Hoya actually believes White’s words or not is yet to be determined. White isn’t going anywhere and is here to stay in the boxing industry. De La Hoya simply has to get used to it.
