Snub to Canelo Álvarez: Terence Crawford wants to return to fight the GOAT
"The Bud" suggests a possible return to the ring, but not because of the Mexican
Canelo Álvarez has just regained the world Super Middleweight championship by the WBC after defeating Christian Mbilli by unanimous decision a few days ago in Saudi Arabia .
But while one of Saúl Álvarez's (64-3-2) aspirations was to become world champion once again, there is another goal he wants to achieve; however, it is not in his hands.
Crawford wants to face Floyd Mayweather Jr.
That desire of the fighter from Guadalajara is Terence Crawford (42-0) , who retired undefeated after defeating the Mexican in September 2025 and vacated the undisputed 168-pound championship.
But it seems that idea is not on the American's mind, as he has shared his interest in a possible return to face another retired undefeated fighter: Floyd Mayweather Jr (50-0) .
“There is a reason they want me to come back. They had all of you fooled into thinking I couldn’t sell and that I wasn’t marketable. Now look, I’m the ticket. To hell with it! Floyd, you and I would make everything explode, GOAT vs GOAT,” The Bud posted on X.
Could there be a rematch between Saúl Álvarez and Crawford?
In recent days The Bud Crawford has posted several messages about his return. In addition to the one already mentioned with The Money, he has also written to Ryan Garcia , although more as a reproach than as a proposal to arrange a fight.
He also spoke about Canelo Álvarez's victory, saying he is a fan of his and highlighting the number of undefeated fighters he has taken down in the ring, but regarding a possible rematch with him, nothing so far.
