Real Madrid's striker hurt his knee while making it 0-1 and had to be substituted
Kylian Mbappé has set off all the alarm bells in France.. . and the sound is reaching Real Madrid. After Konaté left the training camp, the French striker felt pain in his knee during the match against Turkey.
The incident took place before match time was reached. Right, in fact, at the moment he connected with the shot that opened the scoring and, therefore, ushered in the Zinédine Zidane era at the helm of the French national team. He received the ball at the left "edge" of the box, drew back his leg... and, at the moment he went to celebrate, noticed that something was not right.
The injury, specifically, occurred in his left leg. That is, the one bearing his weight at the moment of striking the ball. In fact, just as he makes contact with the ball, Mbappé makes a small jump, as a reflex action, and, at the moment he starts to run to celebrate, he stopped immediately.
Quickly, the doctors of "les bleus" ran onto the pitch to carry out an initial examination. Kylian tried to keep playing. But, as soon as he returned to the pitch and tested himself with an initial run, he went back down to the ground asking to be substituted. His gestures of pain, even covering his face, reflected a certain concern. It was Désiré Doué who came on in his place.
At the press conference, Zidane offered an initial assessment... and it wasn't encouraging at all: "It doesn't look good, unfortunately. I think he’ll have to go back. We’re not going to take any risks. He developed swelling in his knee during the injection. It doesn’t look very promising that he’ll be able to continue.” The French federation, for its part, reported that “he will leave the French national team’s training camp before the last three matches.”
Mbappé , let's remember, was already forced to stop last season because of problems in this same left knee. He did so, in fact, on two occasions... after it emerged that the first examination was not carried out on the knee that was affected by the medical staff.
