Mohamed Salah’s hat trick has Liverpool and the rest of Europe taking notice

Mohamed Salah did not need long to remind everyone why he spent nearly a decade terrorizing defenses in the Premier League.
Four minutes into Trabzonspor’s showdown with Galatasaray on Saturday, Salah was already on the scoresheet. By the end of the night, he had three goals, an assist and another emphatic statement about what he can still do at the highest level.
Trabzonspor routed defending Turkish Super Lig champion Galatasaray 4-0, with Salah involved in every goal. The Egyptian forward opened the scoring in the fourth minute, assisted Noah Saviolo for the second, added another before halftime and completed his hat trick in the 80th minute.
For a player who left Liverpool after nine record-breaking seasons and arrived in Turkey at 34, the performance was a reminder that his goal-scoring instincts have not disappeared. And it inevitably raises a question around the rest of European soccer: did clubs underestimate how much Salah still had to offer?
