When and where are the Leagues Cup 2026 quarterfinals played?
America, Toluca, Monterrey, and Leon reached the quarterfinals, but they will face this round under different conditions against their MLS rivals.
Four Mexican teams are still alive, but the distribution of the venues created a particular situation for this round of the tournament. The Leagues Cup has already set its quarterfinals, and there is one fact that stands out before the matches begin: of the four representatives of the Liga MX, Monterrey will be the only one to play away against an MLS team.
Monterrey will be the first of the four Mexican clubs to take the field and will face the Chicago Fire at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois. Later it will be León 's turn, whose opponent will be Real Salt Lake . The match will be played at Dick"s Sporting Goods Park , in Commerce City, Colorado.
Monterrey, the only Mexican team playing away
The schedule produced a particularity that could become one of the big talking points of this round: only Rayados will have to play its match at the MLS team’s stadium . The other three Mexican representatives will play at neutral venues.
Monterrey w ill play this Tuesday, August 25 , facing Chicago Fire at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois. The match is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET and can be watched on Apple TV.
León will also play this Tuesday against Real Salt Lake , but at Dick"s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado. The match will begin at 10:30 p. m. ET.
Wednesday the 26th will be the turn of América and Toluca . Las Águilas will face Columbus Crew at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, while the Diablos Rojos will take on Austin FC at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey.
The detail behind this arrangement lies in the tournament regulations. Toluca and América , as the two highest-ranked Liga MX clubs, have home-field rights, although their matches were scheduled at neutral venues . Monterrey and León , on the other hand, do not have that privilege, and their respective MLS opponents are hosting the matches.
The road to the final is already set
There will be no room to recover in a long series, and there will not be a second chance for the teams that are eliminated . The quarterfinals will be decided in a single match and the winners will advance directly to the semifinals.
The four teams that survive this round will play between September 1 and 2. The tournament final is scheduled for September 6 , when both the final and the third-place match will be played.
Liga MX , for now, still has four representatives in contention. Next week there could be fewer, but it could also happen that all four manage to break into the tournament’s best.
