Beckham backs Messi to win the Ballon d'Or: "No one at 39 does what Leo does"
Kily González also insists that "Messi must win the Ballon d'Or" and explains why.
Cristian "Kily" González and David Beckham stated that Leo Messi should win the Ballon d'Or after helping Inter Miami win the Campeones Cup in his debut as coach of "The Herons," and "he delivered" with a goal and an assist.

"Messi told me he was going to make me come out a champion, and he delivered. Defensively we were very good. I have no words for what I’m feeling. It’s joy, happiness, so many emotions all together," González said at the post-match press conference after they beat Cruz Azul 2-0 .
Kily González highlighted Messi (39 years old) , whom he described as "number one" , and argued that he deserves the Ballon d'Or.
"No one else is like him; I have no doubt that the Ballon d'Or has to go to him. At his age, the World Cup he had, what he represents for everyone, not only in footballing terms but also in life values... it would only be fair for him to win it," he stressed.

David Beckham , co-owner and president of football operations, joined Kily González's call for Messi to win the Ballon d'Or.
"I still can't believe that we have him here, in Miami, playing for our team. That's why I go to training every day and watch him, and that's why I try to see him whenever I can, because, to be honest, we all want to watch Leo play forever," Beckham shared after Inter Miami's victory in the Campeones Cup.
The former Real Madrid player stressed that "when you see Messi do things like this tonight, when you see the World Cup he has had, it is no coincidence that he is once again among the candidates for the Ballon d'Or. It is no coincidence, because he was probably the best player in the tournament. Last year he had an incredible season. He arrived at that World Cup and, as you said, he was 39 years old."
"Being able to make the difference in a World Cup and do it in every match like he did is something very special. There is no one at 39 years old who is doing that and at that level. So he deserves to be among the Ballon d'Or candidates. In my opinion, he should win it. There are great players like Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham and others. But, when we talk about Leo, I am his biggest defender," he insisted.
