Rodrigo De Paul is slammed in Argentina for belittling Lewandowski's career
Mariano Closs's reflection on ESPN Argentina after the incident in MLS

"R odrigo de Paul received criticism in his own country after challenging Lewandowski during the clash between Inter Miami and Chicago Fire . The Argentine international tried to belittle the Polish striker in the middle of a verbal confrontation on the pitch.
"And who the hell are you, idiot? I won two Copa Américas and a World Cup, and you?" was the phrase De Paul appeared to say to Lewandowski, judging by what the images from the MLS match show. That unfortunate comment sparked outrage on ESPN Argentina , on the program hosted by Mariano Closs.
Lewandowski has a career that De Paul doesn't have
"Before the match, Messi and Lewandowski hugged, and also Luis Suárez. It was a beautiful image, because they are football icons. Lewandowski is a football icon," they commented at the program's panel.
"Leader is Messi, after that the rest is contrived. By anyone. Lewandowski has a career that De Paul does not have. Lewandowski's career is remarkable, and De Paul's is a decent career ," Closs explained.
"Individually speaking. This isn't tennis. You win a Champions League title or a World Cup as a group . A substitute who has never come on is also a world champion," he reasoned.
'In another ESPN broadcast, there were also harsh words against De Paul. "He’s the typical guy who will be 75 years old, sitting at the bar having a coffee, and telling everyone, "hey, I have two Copa Américas and a World Cup, and what do you have?" they said.'
"We have the honor and privilege of working with Mario Alberto Kempes, who not only won the 1978 World Cup, he was the top scorer and the Golden Ball of the World Cup. A true legend, among the very best in the entire history of a great country like Argentina," they stated.
"The human quality of Kempes, who respects everyone, is light-years away from someone as clueless as Rodrigo de Paul. Because Lewandowski could also say to him... "hey, how many Champions Leagues do you have, how many Pichichi trophies, how many Golden Boots?". I'm fed up with De Paul".
"He's clueless. A few months ago he was smashing Inter Miami's MLS title star into a referee. Now he wants to ask Lewandowski, one of the best players of this generation, the seventh all-time top scorer, the third top scorer in the Champions League... "who are you, what have you won"... what an idiot!".
