Mikel Arteta signs a new Arsenal contract: Who are the world’s highest-paid soccer managers?
This new contract means that Arteta will have been in charge of Arsenal for at least ten years

Last season, after more than 20 years, Arsenal finally lifted the Premier League trophy again and put a stamp on Mikel Arteta ’s project. Before that title, the Gunners had finished second three seasons in a row.
In Europe the climb has been just as clear: in his three Champions League campaigns he went from the quarterfinals to the semifinals and then lost on penalties to PSG in the final.
That is why the 44-year-old Spaniard has committed his future to Arsenal with an improved deal through 2029 , taking him into at least his 10th year at the club since arriving in December 2019.
Arteta has now taken charge of 360 Arsenal matches and is the longest-serving manager in England’s top four divisions . The way this squad looks, they are favorites to win the Premier League again and to go far in the Champions League, where they have not lost in 90 minutes since 2024.
Highest-Paid Soccer Managers After Arteta’s New Deal
The new contract also puts Arteta among the best-paid coaches on the planet . Among club managers, Simone Inzaghi of Al Hilal now sits at the top at €26 million a year ( $29.8m) after Saudi money pulled him from Inter Milan.
Pep Guardiola was second on his final Manchester City deal before leaving at the end of 2025-26.
That leaves Diego Simeone of Atletico Madrid as the second-highest paid. He sat first for years, then took a pay cut in 2023 to help the club’s books. In 13 years at Atletico he has won eight trophies, including two La Liga titles, and reached two Champions League finals.
Third is PSG’s Luis Enrique , who just signed a new deal this month with a big raise. Arteta now ranks fourth at about £15m / $20m a year . The rest of the current top six: Oliver Glasner at Nottingham Forest (£13m / $17.4m) and Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid (£12m / $16m).
