More Trouble for Manchester City: UK Tax Authority Could Launch Investigation Into Club
For the time being, the Treasury Committee has written to HMRC, the British authority in relation to taxes and duties

Sanctions against Manchester City , if they come, might not be limited solely to the sporting sphere. As reported by "Sky Sports", the UK Treasury Committee has written to HMRC (the United Kingdom’s tax, payments and customs authority) to ask about the tax implications of the Premier League’s investigation into Manchester City .
In other words, the British tax authorities could investigate whether the Manchester club has been paying the correct amount of taxes during the nine seasons in which it has been found guilty of breaching the Premier League’s financial rules.
One case is, for example, Roberto Mancini's dual contract that "Der Spiegel" already leaked in 2018 through "Football Leaks". Some of those published emails seemed to indicate that the now Italy coach had two contracts: one to manage City, for which he was paid £1.45 million, and a second contract under which £1.75 million per year was paid to a company linked to Mancini.
But it is only an example: the implications, for now, do not go beyond the existence of that information. But "Sky" reports that the Treasury Committee wants to make absolutely sure that the British tax authority investigates what happened.
