The sanction against Manchester City will come down at any moment... even though there will be an appeal on the matter. The process still has a long way to go. However, certain sanction proposals are already beginning to take shape, ranging across a huge grey area.

The Athletic was the outlet that uncovered the guilt of the "skyblue" side last Friday and, days later, they spoke with a former Premier League executive who revealed what sanction proposal he put forward at the time this whole scandal came to light, back in 2023.

I spoke with a former senior Premier League executive. His idea consisted, basically, of deducting between 20 and 25 points per season from them over the next three to five seasons, which, in practice, would make it almost impossible for them to qualify for the Champions during that period, leaving them, at best, on a kind of "island" in mid-table over the next three to five years," Adam Crafton explained on that The Athletic "podcast.

For the moment, everything is speculation surrounding what is known as the "trial of the century." There is still a long way to go before finding out what the final sanction will be that ends up being imposed on Manchester City.
