Rafa Nadal is about to become a member of Real Madrid’s Board of Directors. The club will propose him to its members at the Assembly on November 21 and, if approved, as expected, he will become a member of Madrid’s Board.

This was announced by the white club, which will hold an Extraordinary Assembly to approve the entry of the tennis legend: "Proposal by the Board of Directors for ratification by the Extraordinary General Assembly of Mr. Rafael Nadal Parera as a member of the Board of Directors of Real Madrid C. F., in accordance with article 46 of the Bylaws. In relation to said Agenda item, the Board unanimously approved submitting the following proposal to the approval of the Extraordinary General Assembly: Ratify the appointment of Mr. Rafael Nadal Parera as a member of the Board of Directors of Real Madrid C. F., in accordance with article 46 of the Bylaws".

Rafa Nadal: “I’m thrilled to accept this proposal and eager to learn”

Rafa Nadal has accepted an offer to join Real Madrid's Board of Directors. The tennis legend announced his decision on social media, thanking Florentino Pérez for his confidence in him and expressing his excitement about beginning this new chapter with the club.

"I want to thank president Florentino Pérez and the Board for inviting me to become a member of Real Madrid's Board of Directors," Nadal wrote, publicly confirming his decision to accept the invitation to join the club's governing body.

"I have accepted this proposal with great enthusiasm, eager to learn and contribute in any way I can," he added. Nadal is approaching this new challenge with the intention of bringing his experience to the club while learning firsthand about the inner workings of Real Madrid.

His appointment to the Board adds a new chapter to a possibility that has been discussed in Real Madrid circles for years: that Nadal could one day become president of Real Madrid and succeed Florentino Pérez. He has repeatedly been asked about the prospect in interviews, and the Mallorca native has never completely closed the door. In September 2023, during an interview with Juanma Castaño on Movistar Plus, Nadal admitted that the idea appealed to him, although he stressed that it was not a dream he was actively pursuing and that he would first have to assess whether he was capable of taking on such a responsibility.

His arrival on the Board will inevitably fuel speculation about a potential future move into the presidency. However, interpreting this step as the beginning of a succession plan would be premature, particularly given that Nadal himself has emphasized that his immediate goal is "to learn and contribute."
