A record-devouring Barcelona: and another could fall on Saturday
Would equal Madrid's 68/69 side with nine consecutive wins at the start of LaLiga

Barcelona's excellent run at the start of the season is allowing Flick's team to break record after record. Their goalscoring efficiency is overwhelming, with 43 goals scored in these ten matches. And this is where a new Champions League record comes in. In this competition, Barcelona have played 28 matches with Flick on the bench. In them they have scored a total of 84 goals, which amounts to an average of three goals per match. It is the highest scoring ratio of any team that has played at least twenty matches in this competition since the current format was established in the 1992-1993 season.
This Saturday another record could fall, although this time related to consecutive victories at the start of the league. The record is held by Real Madrid from the 1968-1969 season. The white team, then managed by Miguel Muñoz, achieved nine consecutive wins before drawing 0-0 on matchday ten against Pontevedra. At the moment, Barcelona has eight consecutive victories, so if they beat Betis at La Cartuja on Saturday, they will equal that mark.
On an individual level, Lamine Yamal doesn't stop . In the assists category, he has drawn level with Raphinha, with 13 since the youth academy graduate made his Champions League debut in September 2023. Since then, both have been the top assist providers, ahead of Vinicius, Dembélé, Achraf and Olise.
With yesterday's two assists, Lamine has already provided two in eight matches with Flick as coach. Half of them have come in matches played this season. Barcelona just keeps breaking records.
