Relentless Barcelona: Dominant 3-0 rout over Getafe keeps them atop LaLiga standings

Hansi Flick's team returned to the domestic league right where it left off

'As if time had not passed, Barcelona resumed LaLiga EA Sports after three weeks of stoppage with the same authority shown up to that point and defeated Getafe this Saturday at Spotify Camp Nou (3-0) with goals from Anthony Gordon, Gabriel Jesus and Jules Kounde .'

Englishman's goal in the second minute put the team on track for a victory that the Brazilian strengthened around the half-hour mark and the Frenchman sealed in the second half.

A victory, the eighth in as many matchdays, matching the best start to a league campaign in the club's history , that of the 2013-14 season under the orders of Argentine coach Gerardo "Tata" Martino .

Flick was able to rotate and manage workloads against a Getafe side that, limited by Enes Ünal's last-minute absence, lost Zaid Romero to injury in the first half and is still without an away win.

The Spotify Camp Nou reopened its doors this Saturday after a three-week international break to host the face-off between Barcelona, the undisputed leader with a perfect record and 3 1 goals in seven matchdays , and Getafe, in eleventh place with four goals scored, who were seeking their first victory at the Blaugrana coliseum on their 25th visit.

With the marathon of matches awaiting Barça this month and the wear and tear on the internationals, Flick introduced seven changes: Joan Garcia, recovered, returned in goal; Gerard Martín, Kounde, Xavi Espart, Gavi and Dani Olmo came back into the starting eleven; and Gabriel Jesus made his debut as a starter in the absence of the injured Raphinha.

Meanwhile, Bordalás, with the last-minute absences of Mangala and his attacking reference point, Enes Ünal, brought in defender Kiko Femenía and midfielder Mario Martín in a five-man defense setup, with Iván Azón as the spearhead to hit on the counterattack.

The strategy of Getafe blew up

However, Getafe's defensive strategy fell apart before the second minute, when Gordon slipped in between three deep-blue players and beat David Soria from the edge of the box with a shot that was deflected by Terrats. The Englishman, who had just scored three goals with his national team, thus opened his account as a blaugrana scorer (1-0, 2nd minute).

Getafe tried to push forward without much conviction, with long balls that Eric and Espart dealt with confidently against Iván Azón, far too isolated, who produced the visitors' only shot of the first half, a tame effort that Joan Garcia gathered.

The match was at Rodri 's feet, as he switched play from one side to the other in search of a crack in Getafe's block, hunkered down in its lair.

Gordon, buoyed by the goal, beat Femenía for pace down the left flank and set up Gavi from the byline, who struck it against Guldej. And shortly afterwards, he conjured up a wicked cross that brushed Dani Olmo and David Soria snuffed out with a slap away.

With Lamine Yamal less involved than usual, closely watched at all times by two or three opponents, Barça looked for other resources. Eric tested the Getafe keeper with a long-range shot and Gavi also tested him with a straight-at-him effort. Very little return for so much possession, as the gridlock in front of the Getafe penalty area was monumental.

Without fluidity in their play, Barcelona forced the 2-0 (30th minute) through a defensive action by their forwards. Olmo and Gordon cut off Romero's path, and he lost the ball to Gabriel Jesus . The Brazilian followed the edge of the box and fired a low, crisp shot inside the post that left Soria rooted to the spot.

The Blaugrana side could have extended their lead before the break, but Kounde was not very accurate . First, with a header saved by the visiting goalkeeper. And then, too slow to make the most of a pass from Rodri that left him alone in front of goal.

Already without Romero, injured and replaced by Abqar, Mojica gave the first serious warning with a shot that skimmed the top corner. A brief hint of a reaction that went no further, because Barça hid the ball. In fact, the blaugranas, with more space, came close to a third through shots from Gordon and Olmo, pushed away by David Soria.

The carousel of changes in both teams did not alter the script. The attacks kept coming until Kounde, on the day he surpassed Eric Abidal as the Frenchman with the most appearances for Barça (193), took advantage of a cross from Lamine Yamal to score the 3-0 (73rd min.).

With the match decided, Barça managed a win, the eighth in eight matchdays , extending Hansi Flick's side's flawless start to the season before returning to the Champions League next Tuesday in Istanbul against Galatasaray.
