Amber Eggers’ final months: ‘Love After Lockup’ star dies at 41
She faced a prolonged period of health problems that had kept her family and supporters concerned

A mber Eggers , who became a familiar face to reality television viewers through WE tv’s Love After Lockup , has died at 41. Eggers died Thursday, Sept. 3, after being hospitalized in Atlanta, according to her mother, Monica Eggers, who told TMZ that her daughter died from acute liver failure.
The reality television personality had reportedly been admitted to an Atlanta-area hospital just days before her death. News of Eggers’ passing was also shared by friends and fellow cast members on social media, where tributes quickly poured in for the reality star known for her larger-than-life personality.
Lindsey Booker, another Love After Lockup alum , expressed her disbelief over Eggers’ death in an emotional Instagram tribute. "I literally cannot believe you're gone,” Booker wrote, while remembering the pair’s random late-night phone calls and Eggers’ “wild stories.”
She faced serious medical challenges
Eggers’ death comes after a prolonged period of health problems that had kept her family and supporters concerned for more than a year.
Just four weeks before her death, Eggers revealed on Facebook that she had suffered what she described as a “mini stroke.” The post offered a glimpse into the serious medical challenges she had been facing in the months leading up to her death.
Her family had previously opened up publicly about another major health crisis. In May 2025, Eggers’ sister, Erin Hyndman, created a GoFundMe campaign to help cover her medical expenses after she was hospitalized with severe pneumonia and a bacterial infection in her bloodstream.
Hyndman described the situation as critical, saying Eggers had initially been placed on a ventilator before requiring an advanced life-support machine.
Many of you know Amber is one of the kindest and most big-hearted people you could ever meet,” Hyndman wrote at the time. “Right now, she needs all of that strength for the fight of her life.” Later that month, Hyndman provided a more encouraging update, explaining that Eggers had been moved out of the ICU and was beginning the difficult process of rebuilding her strength.
She remained connected to the franchise
She remained on oxygen because her lungs were still recovering and had begun physical therapy to regain strength in her legs and eventually walk again. The health battle was only one chapter in a life that became publicly known after Eggers appeared on Love After Lockup in 2019.
Amber starred in the show's second season, which followed her relationship with then-fiancé Vincent Gonzalez while she was incarcerated on a drug-trafficking conviction. Their relationship became one of the storylines followed by viewers as Eggers prepared to leave prison and begin life outside. Ultimately, however, the relationship ended after her release.
The woman remained connected to the franchise even after her original season, making additional appearances on later seasons as well as the spinoff Life After Lockup. For fans, her story was about more than the circumstances surrounding her relationship. Eggers became a recognizable personality because of her candid approach to her life and her willingness to let viewers see both the difficult and entertaining moments.
