"A drien Brody surprised with an unusual appearance for a Hollywood star. The Oscar winner was seen on Monday, August 31, riding the New York subway with a friend, in a scene that showed him very close to his roots.

The 53-year-old actor tried to keep a low profile and chose an all-black look for his outing: a baseball cap, T-shirt, pants, and sneakers.

A city that is part of its history

Brody was born in Woodhaven , Queens, and grew up in Jackson Heights. New York is not simply the place where he was photographed this week: it is the city where he spent his childhood and adolescence and where he began to build his path as an actor.

Since he was a teenager, he was familiar with the city's public transportation; his train rides were part of his routine while he attended art school. He took around 4 trains on each trip, an experience that, according to what he said, ended up being much more meaningful than he had thought.

Something that drew attention is that the protagonist of The Pianist used public transportation to observe: on those rides he watched the people traveling with him, and from this he gathered detailed information about their gestures, finding there a source of inspiration.

The choice of public transportation takes on another meaning when Brody's relationship with the city is known. Long before becoming an international star, the subway was part of his routine.

Now, with no stage or cameras around, the actor found himself once again in one of the most everyday spaces of his youth. And although he tried to go unnoticed, he ended up starring in one of those images that show a much more down-to-earth side of a Hollywood. star.

His return to the subway feels almost like a postcard from his early years. The difference is that this time the young actor who used to commute to class was left far behind: the passenger trying to go unnoticed is now one of the great figures of American cinema.
