Hayden Panettiere reportedly taken out of apartment on a stretcher twice while living with Brian Hickerson
The actress’ struggles, relationship history, and ongoing death investigation are drawing renewed focus

H ayden Panettiere ’s final years have come under renewed scrutiny after a neighbor claimed she saw the actress being taken from her Los Angeles apartment on a gurney on two separate occasions while she was in a relationship with Brian Hickerson .
Mia Terrazas , who still lives in the same West Hollywood apartment complex, told Page Six that the incidents occurred in July 2023 and January 2024.
She said she witnessed firefighters removing Panettiere from the building and claimed she noticed what appeared to be injuries on the actress.
Terrazas alleged she saw “bright red spots” and “bruises” on Panettiere and said Hickerson was present during both incidents.
“It appeared that she had been beaten up. It wasn’t apparent to me that it could have been anything else,” Terrazas said.
Panettiere ’s relationship with Hickerson had previously been marked by allegations of abuse, arrests, and legal proceedings.
In 2021, Hickerson pleaded no contest to two felony counts of injuring a spouse or cohabitant after prosecutors filed charges that included allegations of domestic violence.
He was sentenced to jail time, probation, and required to complete domestic violence classes.
Concerns about Panettiere and Hickerson’s relationship
Terrazas said she and her daughter, Vileena Koneru , attempted to raise concerns with firefighters during both gurney incidents. She also claimed she regularly heard arguments coming from Panettiere ’s apartment.
“You can tell somebody’s arguing just by the tonality,” Terrazas said. “It was very hostile.”
The neighbor also alleged she once heard Panettiere shouting at Hickerson in an elevator, saying, “Just leave me alone! Just stop!”
Terrazas said she also contacted authorities after seeing Hickerson at the apartment complex despite a protective order that had been issued following his legal case.
She claimed deputies removed him from the property on at least one occasion but that he later returned.
In August 2025, residents were reportedly warned about Hickerson ’s presence at the building, with notices encouraging them to contact authorities if he was seen in common areas.
Investigation into Panettiere’s death remains ongoing
Panettiere died at age 36 after emergency responders were called to a South Carolina residence earlier this month.
Authorities initially said there were no signs of foul play, while the coroner’s office confirmed that no signs of trauma were discovered that contributed to her death.
Toxicology results are still pending as investigators continue determining the cause and manner of death.
Hickerson has denied any suggestion of foul play through his attorney, saying the investigation should be allowed to continue.
“Hayden’s death remains under investigation, and it is important to allow that investigation to proceed,” Hickerson ’s attorney said. “As has been publicly reported, police confirmed there were no signs of foul play.”
Before her death, Panettiere had spoken publicly about her difficult relationship history, including the struggles she faced while trying to leave abusive situations.
In her memoir, she described feeling trapped in a cycle where former partners would return to her life.
The actress, best known for roles in “Heroes” and “Nashville,” had also openly discussed her battles with addiction and personal challenges.
As authorities await further details from the investigation, questions surrounding Panettiere ’s final years continue to draw attention, with those close to her remembering an actress who faced significant struggles while remaining beloved by fans around the world.
