Hayden Panettiere's life away from Hollywood: this was the place where she spent her final days
The actress lived in an apartment in West Hollywood, a far cry from the multimillion-dollar mansion she bought when she was just 18 years old.

During her early years of fame, Hayden Panettiere owned a property that matched the stage her career was in. In 2008, when she was still one of the young stars of Heroes, she bought a mansion in Hollywood Hills for $2.63 million.
Several years later, Panettiere rented a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in a complex built during the 1980s, in West Hollywood . The unit was located in a tree-lined area, near the Sunset Strip.
An apartment far from the luxuries of a mansion
The place where she spent her last years in Los Angeles had a dining area and a loft-style living room. The rent was around $5,500 per month. It is a significant amount for a home in Los Angeles , although it was far from the value of that property that Panettiere had bought when she was at one of the best moments of her career.
The Hollywood Hills mansion was one of the actress's first major purchases. At the time, her role as Claire Bennet in Heroes had made her one of the most recognizable young faces on American television. Panettiere kept that property for several years and finally sold it in February 2014 for $3.075 million.
By the time she was living in the West Hollywood apartment, Hayden’s career had taken another direction. After Heroes , she landed another of her most important roles in Nashville, where she played Juliette Barnes between 2012 and 2018 and received two Golden Globe nominations. Over the years, however, her appearances on screen became less and less frequent.
Behind the success there were also difficult years. Hayden later spoke about his struggles with addiction, trauma, domestic violence, and the mental health difficulties he went through for much of his life.
The apartment where she spent the last days of her life was also the setting for a much more intimate life. Hayden shared that space with her pets, which appeared on several occasions on her social media. One of the images she posted in February 2024 showed her next to one of her dogs, which had just undergone surgery and was wearing an Elizabethan collar.
The West Hollywood apartment, however, was not the place where she died. Panettiere traveled from Los Angeles to Greenville, South Carolina , shortly before her death. There she was found unconscious in an apartment, and emergency services tried to revive her before declaring her dead at the age of 36. Authorities indicated that, in the initial investigation, they found no signs of violence or suspicious circumstances.
