Lindsey Vonn confirms her relationship with French skier Matthieu Bailet, 11 years younger
The American Olympic champion made the relationship public through a series of photographs from their vacation. Bailet, 30, and Vonn, 41, had been seen together in New York in May.
"L indsey Vonn , the 41-year-old American, posted several photos on Instagram from her summer vacation in which she appears alongside the 30-year-old athlete, putting an end to the rumors that had arisen months earlier.
Vonn accompanied the images with the message "It's about time to do a summer recap… part 1❤️". Bailet responded to the post with an "I can't wait to see the second part of the summer recap😉😘". Among the photographs, the two appear together in a swimming pool, in the sea, and during different moments of their vacation.
A relationship that had already generated rumors
The relationship had begun to be publicly discussed in May, when Vonn and Bailet were seen together in New York. Both were photographed while shopping in the SoHo neighborhood, riding the subway, and posing together backstage at the Broadway musical The Outsiders. A source cited at the time explained that they were “getting to know each other better”.
Those appearances took place during Vonn's visit to New York for the Met Gala . The American had also left a comment on one of Bailet's Instagram posts, fueling speculation about a possible relationship between the two alpine skiing specialists.
Bailet, born in Nice, is a French skier specializing in speed events. He made his World Cup debut in March 2016 , in St. Moritz, and competed in the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games. In March 2026, he also competed in the World Cup finals in Kvitfjell, Norway.
For Vonn, this is her first known relationship since her breakup with Diego Osorio . The skier confirmed in February 2025 the end of her several-year relationship with the businessman. “This year, Valentine’s Day will be a little different for me. But I have my two dogs, so they will be my companions for the day.”, she explained at the time.
Vonn, also focused on her recovery
The announcement comes months after Vonn's return to the 2026 Winter Olympics . The American suffered a serious crash during the downhill event in Cortina d"Ampezzo and had to undergo several surgical procedures. Her recovery has shaped much of her activity over the past few months.
"In May, Vonn explained that she hoped to take advantage of the summer to disconnect after the months following the injury. “I want to have a great summer and I need to disconnect a little from everything”, said the Olympic champion, who at the time was getting around with crutches and a cane.
The September post shows that Bailet was part of that summer. Although the couple had already been publicly linked during the spring, the photographs shared by Vonn constitute the first direct confirmation of the relationship by the skier. Bailet also shared the post on his Instagram stories.
