Moving on after Jennifer Lopez? Ben Affleck breaks his silence on his love life two years after the divorce

Ben Affleck has offered a rare update on his romantic life, making it clear that finding a new relationship isn't currently high on his list of priorities.

The 54-year-old actor and filmmaker opened up about dating while promoting his new thriller Animals. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the film's premiere, Affleck explained that much of his attention is already devoted to his career and his three children, whom he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

“There’s not a lot of room. I’m not running around,” Affleck said when asked about dating. “It’s just not a big priority in my life.

“I know what my priorities are. You can’t have two things that are the most important in your life. For me, that’s the kids. So that’s what that is. And then I have my work, which I love.”

While he isn't actively searching for a partner, Affleck hasn't completely closed the door on romance. He indicated that he's open to whatever life might bring in the future, but he's not interested in chasing a relationship simply for the sake of being in one.

“I’m where I’m at, and I’m great, and who knows what adventures life will bring. I’m open to it, but I’m not trying to chase anything,” he added.

His comments come as renewed attention surrounds his personal life, particularly following his highly publicized marriage to Jennifer Lopez and their subsequent divorce.

Ben Affleck addresses the Shakira matchmaking story

During the same interview, Affleck was asked about a surprising claim made by The View co-host Ana Navarro. Navarro r ecently said she'd considered playing matchmaker between Affleck and Shakira after both stars had become single.

According to Navarro , she was attending a Shakira concert in Miami when she spoke with Affleck's longtime friend Matt Damon.

At the time, Affleck and Lopez were reportedly heading toward a split, while Shakira had also ended her relationship with Gerard Piqué. Navarro suggested that Affleck and Shakira might eventually consider contacting one another.

Affleck , however, appeared genuinely unaware of the alleged matchmaking attempt. He said he'd never heard the story before and suggested that rumors about his personal life often reach him through the media rather than directly.

“I hear s*** like that, honestly, first from people like you,” Affleck said. “I never heard that in my whole life. People gossip. Stuff gets made up.”

Affleck and Lopez rekindled their romance in 2021 after initially becoming engaged in the early 2000s. They married in 2022, but their relationship ended less than two years later, with their divorce finalized in January 2025.

Before Lopez, Affleck was married to Garner from 2005 until their divorce was finalized in 2018. The former couple share Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.

However, for the time being at least, Affleck appears content to keep romance in the background while concentrating on his children and career.
