Prince William and Kate join Tom Cruise in London for star-studded ‘Digger’ red carpet
Digger premiered in the United Kingdom on September 22.
P rincess Kate Middleton stole the spotlight in a stunning purple gown as she and Prince William joined Tom Cruise for the premiere of his latest movie, with the Hollywood star helping the princess down the cinema steps.
Cruise played the perfect gentleman helping Princess Kate down the steps as the Prince and Princess of Wales arrived for the film’s star-studded debut in the United Kingdom on September 22 .
The royal couple joined Cruise at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square , where American glamour and British elegance came together for the Royal Film Performance of the actor’s latest project.
Kate drew plenty of attention in a flowing purple Jenny Packham gown featuring a daring open-back detail. She completed the look with striking jewelry and a heavily curled hairstyle swept back at the side.
Her accessories carried their own royal history, with Kate wearing an amethyst necklace associated with the Queen Mother alongside pearl earrings that once belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales .
The necklace has also been worn by Queen Camilla , who chose the piece for the 2012 Royal World Premiere of Skyfall at London ’s Royal Albert Hall .
Whilst William looked equally polished in a black-tie ensemble featuring a velvet evening jacket as crowds gathered around Leicester Square to watch the royal couple and Hollywood stars walk the red carpet.
The evening marked another meeting between William , Kate and Cruise , who first crossed paths at the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in May 2022.
The trio appeared delighted to see one another again, chatting and laughing ahead of the screening alongside director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu , who joined Cruise for the premiere.
“I just love them,” Cruise said of William and Kate . “They are lovely people and I have great respect for them.
“We [William] have a lot in common. We both love England and we're both aviators. We both love flying.”

The actor has also reportedly arranged a special screening of Digger for the Wales family , having learned that William is a fan of the original film that inspired his connection to the project.
Digger stars Cruise as a wealthy oil tycoon whose actions trigger an environmental disaster before he attempts to convince the world that he is uniquely capable of fixing the damage.
The satirical black comedy is directed by Inarritu and features an ensemble cast including Riz Ahmed , John Goodman , Sandra Huller , Michael Stuhlbarg and Jesse Plemons .
The Royal Film Performance was hosted by Warner Bros. and held in aid of the Film and TV Charity , adding a generous purpose to a memorable evening.
Cruise and Inarritu began discussing the project whilst the former was working on Top Gun: Maverick , with the film eventually moving forward after the director completed his 2022 project, Bardo .
Cruise was officially cast in the lead role in 2024, while Legendary Pictures joined the project as a producer. Digger is scheduled for release in the United States on October 2 .
