Rick Ross arrested on domestic violence charges as attorney denies allegations
The rapper faces felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery charges
R ick Ross was arrested in Miami Beach on Thursday, October 1, on two domestic violence-related charges. The 50-year-old rapper, whose legal name is William Leonard Roberts II, was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 6:10 a.m., according to Miami-Dade records cited by local reporting.
Ross faces one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of battery. CBS News Miami reports he was released late Thursday morning after a judge set total bond at $5,000.

His attorney, Steve Sadow, denied the allegations, saying Ross was being wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend . Sadow said the police report was filed a month after the alleged incident and that Ross had pleaded not guilty.
He urged the public to allow the judicial process to proceed before judging the case.
The arrest follows public allegations from Ross’s former girlfriend, model and content creator Jazzma Kendrick. On September 26, she shared Instagram Stories showing an apparent lip injury that she attributed to the rapper. “The day Rick busted my lip and the day I left,” she wrote. Her account remains an allegation.
Ross, known for “Hustlin’” and for founding Maybach Music Group, is scheduled for arraignment on October 22. The charges have not been proven in court, and his defense maintains his innocence.
