What did she say?

Salma Hayek is having one of the best moments of her career, and Jimmy Fallon got to witness it firsthand. The actress appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and, as expected, a fun game had to be part of the night.

Salma had the cards stacked in her favor

The moment came during “Seductive, Insulting or Nonsense,” a game in which Salma had to read different phrases in Spanish while Fallon tried to figure out what was behind each one: whether they were seductive, insulting or simply absurd.

Fallon had already admitted on other occasions that he isn't fluent in Spanish, so this time he was clearly at a disadvantage . Salma, on the other hand, was born and raised in Mexico, so she didn't have to figure out the words written on the cards. She also had another advantage: she could play around with the way she delivered each phrase and the interpretation she gave it .

One lettuce was enough to confuse him

The first clue came when Salma read a phrase comparing someone to packaged lettuce, describing them as attractive, delicious and a little dangerous.

Fallon heard that and figured it was probably nonsense. But it wasn't. Salma revealed that it was seductive , and the host's expression made it clear he wasn't prepared for such a pickup line.

And, really, how could calling someone “packaged lettuce” possibly be a compliment?

Fallon thought he had figured out the trick

In another round, a phrase included the words “hot dog.” Fallon thought he recognized the intention and chose the seductive category.

The phrase was about a hot dog that supposedly would keep some flamingos from playing Freeze Tag . It was nonsense, such an unexpected combination that even Fallon's reaction became part of the joke.

They went through several more phrases before reaching one that turned out to be particularly interesting.

The 10,000-point phrase caught him off guard

The final round was worth 10,000 points, giving Fallon even more reason to try to get it right . Salma picked up the card and read the phrase again with complete confidence.

Fallon said it was an insult.

The pickup line compared someone's eyes to an Ikea , saying you could get lost inside them. Fallon's reaction was immediate: he couldn't believe that was the correct answer.

And, really, how could that possibly be “seductive”?

Jimmy lost, and honestly, it didn't come as much of a surprise. Not even Salma's delivery was enough to help him correctly figure out the phrases, but at least the two of them seemed to have a good time.

Salma Hayek has other challenges ahead

This September, Hayek announced her directorial debut with the independent feature Arena , a project she also wrote.

The film will be a romantic drama about forbidden love and a connection with nature. Cara Delevingne and Yura Borisov, who was nominated for an Oscar for Anora, will star in the movie, while production is set to include filming in Quintana Roo and Veracruz. Angelina Jolie, Stacy Perskie and José Tamez are attached as producers .

Hayek will also appear in theaters with Without Blood, a film directed by Angelina Jolie in which she stars alongside Demián Bichir and Juan Minujín. The story is based on Alessandro Baricco's Without Blood and explores the wounds left by war, revenge, guilt and the possibility of finding reconciliation .
