Shakira seems to have a favorite country to end her tour and will bring something special from Colombia
The Colombian singer is about to put an end to a huge chapter of her career, but she decided to do it in a very special way.
Shakira is just days away from beginning a series of concerts that will carry a different meaning from any other stop on her tour . This time, the chosen stage will not simply be the place where she performs, but also the meeting point between a farewell and a very important part of her roots.
Shakira has already chosen where she wants to say goodbye
The Spanish capital will be Shakira’s only stop in Europe as part of the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour and also the place where the tour will officially come to an end. The artist arrived in Spain on September 14 , 2026, just days before beginning a concert residency scheduled to run from September 18 through October 11 .
But Shakira is not arriving in Madrid with only her songs. The artist also wanted to bring something very special with her from Colombia.
Colombia crosses the Atlantic
For the first time in her career, the singer will take an official delegation from the Barranquilla Carnival outside Colombia , on a scale she has never previously presented abroad.
More than 130 folkloric performers, including musicians, directors and dancers from traditional comparsas, will take part in the concerts . The delegation was coordinated and directly funded in partnership with the Barranquilla mayor’s office to be part of this Madrid run.
Why is the Barranquilla Carnival so important?
To understand the significance of the decision, it is important to look at what this celebration represents in Colombia.
The Barranquilla Carnival is one of the country’s most important cultural expressions, bringing together Indigenous, African and Spanish traditions through music, dance and costumes. UNESCO declared it a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity .
Bringing it to Madrid for an entire residency takes the presentation to another level. This is not a one-time nod during a single performance, but a presence that will accompany Shakira throughout her 12 dates in the Spanish capital .
