The unrecognizable Bill Clinton with long hair and an unkempt beard who reappeared for his 80th birthday
As part of the celebration of his 80th birthday, the former President of the United States surprised with a very different appearance from the one he usually shows in public.

"T he former U.S. president once again became the center of attention, although this time it was not because of a political statement or a public appearance. A new photograph of the former president drew surprise for a much more unexpected detail: his appearance.
Clinton appears with hair considerably longer than usual and a thick beard that completely changes his image. The result is so different from the look the public is used to seeing him with that the first question arises almost automatically: What happened to him?
The image makeover that surprised everyone
For decades, Bill Clinton has maintained an easily recognizable image: short hair, a clean-shaven face or a very subtle beard, and the formal style associated with his political career. The new photograph completely breaks with that appearance. He wore a very different hairstyle when he studied at Yale Law School in the early 1970s and met the woman who would become his wife.
The photograph works like a small trip back in time to an era when Clinton was still far from becoming one of the most recognizable political figures in the United States. His young and relaxed appearance contrasts with the face that millions of people would eventually come to associate with the U.S. presidency.
The former president appears in the image with grown-out hair and a thick beard that covers much of his face. The contrast with his best-known photographs makes the transformation even more striking.
The change also brought back a curious detail from Clinton 's history: long hair is not entirely foreign to his past. Before becoming one of the best-known political figures in the United States, he had already worn a much less conventional look during his youth.
Precisely that contrast made the snapshot one of the most striking details of the celebration.
Along with the image, the former first lady shared an emotional message for Bill in the post, writing:
Happy birthday, dear Bill. Eighty years in to your extraordinary life, I feel very lucky to have spent over 50 of them with you. Here's to more dancing, talking, and laughing together in the years to come.
Bill and Hillary Clinton met in 1971 while studying at Yale Law School. The couple married in 1975 and, five years later, their only daughter, Chelsea, was born. By then, Bill had already begun building the political career that would ultimately take him to the White House .
