Bruce Willis' family hit by new controversy as Rumer's ex denies drug use and claims he's being kept from their daughter
A bitter custody dispute over three-year-old Louetta.
The family of Bruce Willis has been drawn into another difficult public dispute after his daughter Rumer Willis ' former partner, Derek Richard Thomas , made fresh allegations in their ongoing custody battle.
Thomas filed a declaration in Los Angeles Superior Court on August 27 claiming Willis has deliberately interfered with his relationship with their daughter, Louetta .
He also strongly rejected allegations previously made by Willis concerning his alleged drug use, stating: “I reject completely and without reservation” the claims against him.

Thomas claims Willis has “done everything in her power to interfere, block and frustrate” his relationship with Louetta .
A June 9 custody order granted Willis primary physical custody while allowing Thomas parenting time every other weekend beginning June 20.
According to Thomas , the arrangement initially required six weeks of supervised visits before he could move to “unmonitored and overnight” time with his daughter.
He alleges that Willis repeatedly found reasons to prevent that transition from happening.
Thomas also detailed a July confrontation after he objected to one of the people monitoring a scheduled visit.
According to his filing, Willis eventually arrived at his home with police.
Officers reportedly determined that the disagreement was a “civil matter,” but Thomas claims Willis nevertheless left with Louetta before his scheduled parenting time had ended.
Rumer Willis previously raised concerns over drug use
Willis has presented a very different version of events in earlier filings.
She previously accused Thomas of drug abuse and alleged that his marijuana use had once left him incapable of safely supervising Louetta for even a short period.
Willis has also accused her former partner of emotional abuse and argued that his behavior has negatively affected their daughter. Thomas has denied those allegations.
The former couple have been fighting over custody since July 2025, when Thomas first sought formal custody and visitation rights.
Thomas is now asking the court to preserve the June custody arrangement, while Willis has requested that it be overturned.
Neither side's latest allegations have been proven in court, leaving the dispute over Louetta's care and Thomas ' access to his daughter unresolved.
