Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has spent years creating memorable moments for audiences around the world, but his latest career milestone quickly became a family celebration.

After being named a Disney Legend , the actor joked that his new title came with a benefit his daughters would be most excited about.

Johnson was honored at the 2026 Disney Legends Awards ceremony in Anaheim, California, joining a group of entertainers recognized for their lasting impact on Disney’s storytelling legacy.

Alongside names including Anne Hathaway , Lin-Manuel Miranda and the Jonas Brothers , Johnson was celebrated for his contributions to the company, particularly through his role as Maui in the Moana franchise.

The honor also became a special moment for his family. Johnson revealed that his younger daughters, Jasmine and Tiana , sent him a heartfelt video congratulating him the night before the ceremony.

“They said, ‘Congratulations, Daddy, you’re a Disney legend. What does it mean?’” Johnson recalled.

Rather than giving them a serious explanation, Johnson decided to have some fun with his answer.

“And I sent them back a video and I was like, ‘It means we get free tickets to Disney for life,’” he joked.

Johnson shares Jasmine , 10, and Tiana , 8, with wife Lauren Hashian . He is also the father of Simone Johnson , 25, whom he shares with former wife Dany Garcia .

While the free tickets comment was clearly a joke, Johnson explained that becoming a Disney Legend represented something much more meaningful than another award.

“I think Disney Legends is something much bigger,” Johnson said. “I believe it’s powerful what Disney does.

"And what it means, in my opinion, to be a Disney legend is to treat people good and treat them with kindness and try your best to create experiences for them that are meaningful for them and their families all over the world.”

A Disney legacy built around family moments

Johnson ’s connection with Disney has grown through his work as Maui, a role that helped make Moana one of the company’s most recognizable modern animated films.

He's set to return as the demigod in the upcoming Moana 3, continuing a character that has become closely linked with his career.

His daughters have also become part of that Disney journey. Johnson revealed that Jasmine and Tiana made brief appearances in the live-action Moana and previously appeared in Moana 2.

“It’s been a great year for my little girls,” he said. During his acceptance speech, Johnson reflected on a memory from when his oldest daughter Simone was five years old.

He recalled taking her to Disneyland for a princess breakfast and watching her make a wish during the experience.

“I just remember that moment on my daughter’s face. I had never seen that before,” Johnson said. “She was just so into making a wish… I said, ‘God, I wonder what was going through the little mind.’”

Joh n son said those moments are what make Disney special for families across generations.

“It’s just experiences like that that we create that I know she’ll never forget,” he said. “I’ll never forget. That’s the beauty of Disney. That’s the beauty also of being a Disney Legend.”
