Costco Thanksgiving Dinner: Where you can preorder it, what is included and how much it costs

How does Costco’s package compare to other retailers such as Aldi?

Costco is offering an online Thanksgiving dinner package for $199.99, providing a traditional holiday spread for up to eight people without requiring shoppers to prepare every dish from scratch as the delivery deal includes a turkey breast, multiple sides and two desserts. The Complete Gourmet Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner weighs approximately 30 pounds and costs around $25 per person, and Costco has reduced the listed price from $269.99, with delivery included, although customers will still need to cook the turkey and heat several of the accompanying dishes.

The meal is available exclusively through Costco.com , with preorders recommended by November 13. Deliveries began November 4, while orders placed by November 13 are expected to arrive by November 20. The centerpiece is a five-pound, skin-on, netted turkey breast sourced from Amish farm-raised birds. Costco describes it as free-range, antibiotic- and hormone-free, and pre-brined for preparation in the oven. The package also includes three pounds each of mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, sweet corn, green bean casserole and cornbread stuffing. Candied yams weigh two pounds, while the turkey gravy comes in a 24-ounce container. Cranberry relish, 12 gourmet dinner rolls, a two-pound apple cobbler and a whole pumpkin pie complete the package. Cooking instructions are provided, making the offering more convenient than sourcing and preparing every component independently. There is one important compromise for traditional turkey fans: the package contains a breast rather than a whole bird, and that means customers will not receive dark meat, legs or wings.

How Costco's price compares with Aldi, Walmart and Target

At $199.99, Costco 's package is considerably more expensive than several competing Thanksgiving offers whilst Aldi says its shopping list can feed 10 people for under $39, while Walmart has advertised a meal basket for 10 at $35. Meanwhile Target 's Thanksgiving deal is designed to feed six people for $30, and Sam's Club has advertised a feast for 16 at approximately $160 and those prices make Costco 's package a more expensive option although its delivery and preassembled selection of dishes offer a different level of convenience. Aldi 's offer requires shoppers to purchase the ingredients themselves rather than receive a prepared package as its cheaper 12-item list includes a 16-pound turkey, stuffing mix, sweet potatoes, dinner rolls, cranberries, vegetables and ingredients for pumpkin pie. Aldi has also introduced an online shopping feature that allows customers to add the listed products to a cart for pickup or delivery and chief commercial officer Scott Patton said the aim was to make holiday shopping easier and allow families to spend more time enjoying Thanksgiving .
