Without a doubt, every couple decides where and how they want to get married, but there are moments that simply cannot be planned. That is exactly what happened to Sara Arroyo Montalvo and her partner, who boarded a flight to Las Vegas intending to reach the city and celebrate their wedding there . However, before the plane touched down, their trip took a completely different turn.

They got married in the sky

While the plane was flying at around 35,000 feet, the idea of a private wedding was left behind . The flight crew learned about the couple's plans and decided to surprise them with the opportunity to celebrate their wedding right there.

But how could they make it happen?

The flight's captain was also an ordained minister, so he was the one who officiated the ceremony.

Standing before them were the 178 passengers on the flight, who ended up becoming witnesses to a moment that had not originally been part of the celebration . The plane went from simply being their way of getting to Las Vegas to becoming the setting for their wedding.

For Montalvo, the coincidence was hard to ignore. In her post, she shared that the trip had another special detail: it was the first time the couple had flown with Southwest Airlines, meaning their debut with the airline came with a memory they will hardly ever forget.

And what about the wedding dress?

If the ceremony was unexpected, the details could not be conventional either. Without the usual elements of a wedding on hand, the flight attendants had to use whatever they had available aboard the plane to create the bride's look .

The result was a single-layer wedding dress made from toilet paper, paired with a veil made from the same material. To complete the look, the crew also created a bouquet using Southwest coffee stirrers.

Rather than taking away from the significance of the moment , those details turned it into a celebration that was completely different from what the couple had imagined.
